Schedule of Events for 2008
The following is our Schedule of Events for 2008.
March 1, 2008 - Ongoing
With the arrival of our Statler Stitcher Longarm Quilting System and the construction of our Home Studio, we welcome members of the quilting community to come take a Home Studio Tour. Please call or email me for more information. We had a lot of fun doing the four Tours we have done for various groups.
June 7 and 8, 2008 - Beach Cities Quilters Show, FantaSea of Quilts
This was a great show for us! So many of the Guild members stopped by to say hello. And we met a number of terrific new quilters. Everyone loved our pirates quilt and our dog and cat quilts. Two dog lovers purchased and took home two of our sale quilts.
July 25-27, 2008 - International Quilt Festival, Long Beach, California
This was a very spectacular show for the quilting community and vendors. There were more than 500 booths, with over 320 vendors participating. The quality and quantity of offerings was spectacular. I had customers from all over the world. They were very enthusiastic, and the show doors were actually opened early to accommodate the throngs of early arrivals. However, for those who did not buy their tickets in advance, there were 1-1/2 hour waits, and food availability also did not take into account the very large number of customers. However, there will doubtless be many improvements next year to take these into account.
This show requires two days to see all of the quilts and see all of the vendor wares. If you are taking a class or two, add an extra day. There are some good hotels within walking distance from the Convention Center, and you might want to try an overnight, so you can arrive at 11 am and stay on to 7pm, when the facility closes for the day.
My two booth "helpers" were great. I couldn't have managed the outpouring of interest and purchasing without them. Now that I have "sold out", I am getting ready to start again planning and preparing inventory for next year's event.
I haven't gotten the final attendance figures as yet, but will post them here when I do.
I am already planning for the 2009 Show!
August 2 and 3, 2008 - Quilt Daze VII, Yorba Linda, California
I've just returned from this quilt show. I was only able to do Saturday, since I was suffering from fatigue from all of this week of activities. I met some new quilting friends who purchased fabric and quilts. Several guilds displayed their members' quilts.
